An old retired grunt once told me that the infantry isn't just a job, it's a culture. What do you think?

It's a lifestyle. You will work more than most other MOS's, be treated harsher, and usually get worst standard of living with the same amount of pay. But you will have pride in yourself, your blue chord, and if you get the chance your CIB as well unless you are one of these new age shitbags who feel the Army and America as a whole owes them something.

wherever brave men fight and die for freedom you will find me, now and forever, the INFANTRY-"QUEEN of BATTLE"- Follow Me.

I know when I read my novel of a contract at 17 years old that I was signing away my rights to uphold them for everyone else in this country. That being said the only thing I feel is owed to me is just simply respect for the person I am. Respectful. That is who I am. I earned that not by my title, my achievements but by being me, a respectful person. I learned that best through the army as an infantryman. 11B for life!

You can even break the Infantry culture into "Sub-Cultures" such as Airborne, Ranger Regiment, Tabbed Ranger's etc.

As a 180A (SF Warrant Officer) I can relate to the pride of the Infantry as well as the suck factor. I have a CIB a Silver Star and SF tab but was never a blur chord wearing infantry soldier. Those soldiers have my respect and admiration for their dedication and humping the ruck sack.

Correct Light Infantry, no vehicles we will hump the ruck on our LPCs (Leather Personnel Carriers). 11C you lived it and good was not good enough it had to be Outstanding.
