Another Airborne Ranger was killed in a training accident, SGT Avonye Chisolm, 1-75th. Have you known someone killed during a training event?

I have known many Who died or were Killed In training events ...
from Accidents in Convoys on the "Autobahn", to Drowning on JCETs In Malaysia , in Qualification Courses events to Malfunctions on proficiency Jumps, Crash landings during Night landings, to Flying into low hanging Power lines, Troops being Crushed between or Under Vehicles during Desert Training Operations... Not to mention miscalculation on "Arty" Charges, to Poor "Calculation and Placement" on Demo Charged...

As a former 92G30P this is sad. RIP brother we have this until we meet at the grill in the sky. To other SM's remember one thing death will take you if your are in your first enlistment or your last, don't take life for granted. But also don't use the I am ETS'ing to stop you from being a Solider.

We had an attempted suicide back in 2006 during our final FTX for BCT. Never heard if the guy pulled through or not. Had two battles almost die prior to this. One who had to be rushed to the hospital for strep throat AFTER passing his PT test, and another due to over-hydrating. It was 130+ heat index, and he drank way too much water. Other than that, the only confirmed death I can recall by name was a soldier I trained with at Ft. Sam Houston who died on Christmas Eve due to sleep apnea while on leave with his wife and young daughters. I know it isn't due to training, but he was one hell of a motivated soldier medic, and weighed heavy on all of us. As for this Ranger who has lost his life training, Rest in Peace brother. Till Valhalla.

He didn't have to make the jump, but he did anyway - a true Ranger at heart. Rest in Peace!

I've lost friends already. Most recently a friend in the same BUD/S Class as me was KIT in a parachute accident.. That stuff hurts, but you know they lived and died doing honorably.. In our memory, their legacy lives on.

I have seen it many times in the past... In Schools, FTXs, and JCETs and many Overseas Deployments
