Anyone deciding to come out of retirement for COVID-19 related duties? Anyone heard about what healthcare they will offer, to the SM or the dependents?

If they call for Logisticians I will volunteer. Until then I am letting HRC deal with the challenges they have with out tripping over me, my phone calls, and emails.

I had heard POTUS authorized the activation of up to 1M personnel to assist with Covid-19 efforts. I had limited ability to research for specifics. My impression is they would be calling medical personnel in particular. I'm curious about the options though. I was a career INTEL troop but obtained a Paramedic license (still current) after leaving active duty. I wonder if there would be provisions for someone like me to be recalled?

I agree. Lots of folks reinvented themselves after service or expanding the knowledge and credentials. ie. Medic before but RN now. Fastrack recall with frocked ranks???

LTC (Join to see) - I think they are operating under the assumption that prior service people who later became a medical professional of some sort, they are serving their local community. Taking them out to go to another community compounds the problem. Their hope is to get folks that are retired or who have moved out of practice in education, administration, sales, etc. The military just so happens to have a convenient retainer system for retirees and legal vehicles To bring them back.

Former Medics, 91B, 91W, 68Ws are an amazing breed. Many have gone on to a great variety of useful professions, but generally lack civilian equivalency beyond EMT-basic (a tragedy I might add). I have complete faith that collecting these assorted and wayward souls would yield a tremendously effective treatment team with just a little polishing. Most people, including a terribly high percentage of our veterans, have never seen a Combat Medic firing on all cyclinders. I was once one of them, have been privileged to lead some, and I would be honored to partner with veterans in this growing crisis. I have never doubted what happens when uncommon talent finds common purpose.
