Any advice regarding basic, AIT, and life beyond as a 15T?

Leaving for basic training on January 20th. Selected 15T as my MOS. Went to The Citadel for undergrad (now going in 30 years old/leaving the medical sales industry). I figured I should learn some things about an aircraft/army before I try to get selected for flight school. Any information regarding basic, AIT, and your experiences with the MOS would be much appreciated!

SPC (Join to see) Do you know what the age limit is for the WOFT program? I thought it used to be 32, anyway if that’s what you want make sure there’s no delay when you get settled in at your first assignment.

Yes definitely, do you know what duty station you’ll go to yet? If so network with other people on this forum and it should make the process a little simpler. The packet is long and tedious but completely worth it. Good luck

CW3 (Join to see) I don’t have a clue yet, but everyone I’ve met so far has been super helpful. That packet looks crazy! Thank you!

The packet is not necessarily hard to complete, my packet is in for this upcoming board, but I’m my opinion, you should have went street to seat instead of taking away from a unit that will now have to deal with a soldier who is only in to get to a specific position. No offense, but you have now become a burden to any unit you arrive to. SPC (Join to see)

SSG (Join to see) I picked the route that fit my personal situation best and an MOS I will excel at. Hopefully my unit won’t see me as a burden. I appreciate your input.

I realize that your original post was in December and you were supposed to go for basic in January 2020. You should be well on your way now. What's the update?

I got to my first unit in Korea and the pilots in my company helped me knock out my packet. My packet will be reviewed in July!

SPC Johnston,
I have a Warrant 1 I recently graduated with that was in that MOS who would be a better bet to answer your questions. I could ask her in regards to the MOS. As for basic and AIT, even at your current age you’ll be just fine so long as you’ve kept up with your health; just remember a lot of basic has to deal with teamwork and mind games so just remember why you enlisted! I’ll get some AIT info for you.

I plan on dropping my packet as soon as I get to my first unit. Unfortunately, I didnt know that was an option until after I enlisted. So far it has been great getting to put my hands on the aircraft!

Yes, the recruiters don't tell anybody about that option! Make your packet a priority! Nobody will take you by the hand and lead you where you need to go to get your packet assembled! You have to take the initiative!

You wrote, "before I try to get selected for flight school". At 30 years old, you may be pushing the age limit for acceptance into flight school. If so, try to get your packet in ASAP.
