Any experience with American Corporate Partners?
This online mentoring program is a partnership between Beyond the Yellow Ribbon companies and large corporate employers. Their goal is to assist veterans/active military looking to start a civilian career.
I understand the mentorship program has been successful in translating military language into verbiage that's more recognizable to the civilian sector.
I just finished my first meeting with my mentor. It was a great discussion that lasted about
an hour. We talked about our experiences
and training, hobbies and families, and about expectations. He has mentored several people from the
military and is just a little older than I am.
We are going to do monthly teleconferences. Over the next month my mentor and other
people in his network is going to go over my Linkedin profile and maybe ask a
few questions about my career. They are
going to give me tips to improve my profile, what skill sets that I should
place emphasis on, and what career fields that I may be interested in given my
interests, experiences, and training.
Specifically, they home to give me an idea on what MBA specialty may be
the best fit for me. It looks like I have
gotten a great sponsor and we ended up having a lot in common. This looks like this is going to be a great
year.

Veterans who have served on active duty since 2001 are eligible to apply for mentorships, with preference given to those with service-connected disabilities. ACP also recognizes the service and sacrifice of our nation's surviving military spouses and spouses of severely wounded post-9/11 veterans, and encourages them to apply for mentorship opportunities.
