My BEST experience in Intel was with SOF in Gardez as well as throughout Khost, Logar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, and Zormat provinces of Afghanistan in 2003-2004. Always Out Front!

That BDE is full of drama, they have had a few soldiers in the news lately for REALLY bad stuff; not sure which BNs though. keep your head up and be ready for a rough ride. It will all blow over, and likely before you arrive, but there will be remembrance of the issues around still.

It's an MI Bde. Those looking for drama will always be there, and always find it.

As SSG Ed Mikus said, there's a lot of drama SGT(P) (Join to see) from 1SG Moerk, that is actually nicer in person than the monster they made out of her, to some troubled Junior Enlisted. Just pick wisely who you keep around.

We, in the field, always find or instill trouble. The by-product of this good Army training that the "idle hands and idle minds" principle you were probably warned about tends to get us into bad trouble whenever we are in garrison if we do not proactively and positively occupy ourselves. Mind the advisement of MAJ Fred N., but be aware of the issues mentioned by SSG Mikus and PFC Ortiz. You will be fine. Always Out Front (even from the couch)!

SPC(P) Echeverry, your assignment will provide the opportunity to experience the service in a joint environment at the high operational/strategic level. While the BDE (at Ft Meade) may be "full of drama" the Cryptologic Support Group at SOCOM (at MacDill) is far enough from the flagpole to insulate you from that fun. That said, being away from the flag also means that you will have to be self reliant on taking care of your self professionally and personally. The CSG may be part of the 741st, but day to day activity is driven by SOCOM requirements.

In my tenure as the BN CSM, I saw strong teams and some not so. The CSG team is only as strong as its weakest link. You'll be the face of the BN/Bde and NSA down at SOCOM. You will absolutely affect things downrange in a way only silent professional will ever know. Enjoy your time not only at SOCOM, but also in the MacDill area. "First to Know", "Army Strong"

Thank you CSM! I plan on staying away from the drama, I've managed to do so, so far in my short career.
