I was 92G switched to 68W/68G. One week before graduation from 68W school I and the school were informed I was in the wrong class. I was suppose to be in 68G school. When asked what I wanted to I explained finish 68W. I was the oldest female in the class.

In 68w AIT I started in a company of 400+ other trainees. Between injuries, height/weight failures, pt failures, NREMT failures, and whiskey lane failures we finished with just over 200

Amazing how things have changed. I was a 91C20 back in the day. We were mostly hospital based, working at a level between an LPN and an RN. I worked CCU/ICU at Silas B. Hays Army Medical Center, Ft. Ord.

You cant go through the socm course unless you are enilsting as an 18D in the national guard. To do this on active duty you have to enlist as a 68w. That course is required to complete first. Once you have that you volunteer for SF not sure you go about that and then you go through all the SF courses and then the 18D course. When i fi rdst enlisted in 2002 it was like 92 weeks from the start of basic until you finish.

That’s not completely true. 68-Ws going to Civil Affairs out of Ft. Bragg, Ranger Batts, 160th FLT Medics and SEAL Corpsman attend this course. It’s not just for 18-Ds.

I didn't realize that PFC Berry was in the NG. He can contact the closest NG SF unit and see if they will give him one of there Group Support BN slots on the condition that if he passes, he will be assigned to their unit.

The question was about reclassi ng as a 68w and attending this course so yes the only way is to complete 68w the go to one of the special units

I think you first have to volunteer for SF and get through the selection course and then they will decide which SF MOS you will get.

Just FYI,.. it will be immensely easier for a female to get in than a male. Just a numbers game hardly any female W1s and they are becoming needed more now that females are in training courses in SOF
