I've been given the responsibility of coming up with ideas on how I can help with promoting cultural diversity in my unit. Any thoughts/suggestions anyone would like to share? What works, what doesn't?
A quality Army Leader I know told me that while he was in Korea, his Ordinance Company would hold potlucks/celebrate each other's holidays to build camaraderie between his unit and the South Korean Army unit they served alongside. I like the idea, but food will be tricky due to COVID-19 precautions.
(Next month I need to come up with ideas for Women's History Month, if anyone wants to offer any suggestions for that as well. All feedback appreciated, thank you.)

I would be leaning toward your student body for a better answer. The way we handle diversity in the Military may be different from that of a university. One thing that should be fine is sharing contributions to the success of the US Military from different cultures. I am not sure how you can do a pot luck with Covid in these days.

Thanks for the input Sir. I sourced my question to Rallypoint because it's regarding promoting cultural diversity within my Army ROTC unit, but I appreciate the guidance.

No mention of how to promote survival in your /warfighting/ unit, though? Cultural diversity is the thing?
Here's how you promote cultural diversity in your unit: do your level best, give your life, even, if it comes to that, to save your black/white/asian/latino buddy's ass in combat.
THAT'S how you promote cultural diversity in a warfighting organization.
God forbid the military focuses on lethality.

Understanding the people around you makes you a better team. Being a better team enhances lethality.
Also lethality is a bullshit buzzword.

SFC Thomas Foreman - Nah. 'Inclusivity' is the bullshit buzzword when comes to an organization that should be nothing more than a meritocracy.

SN Greg Wright people perform better when they feel like they matter. This isn’t a new development.
Absolutely everyone has a diverse background. I'm from a small German town in Wisconsin. We still use some german words, eat a lot of german style food, dance to polkas, and drink tons of beer. There were NO-anybody different from us where I lived. It was quite a shock back in 72 when I met blacks, indians, mexicans, asians, southerners, big city slickers, and even a couple of Muslims and Israelis. I also had a few shocks when white cops arrested black GIs for just driving a car. So, just to let you know, if, and it's a big IF, if a person is just marginally aware of how others do things, you can find diversity in anyone. Including yourself. Oh, FYI, never accidently consume the spice ball when eating at your Guamanian buddy's home. It's a cultural experience you will never forget. So, just start having your people talk about their backgrounds and upbringing.
