Have you ever found yourself on mail buoy watch?
Ever been handed a kapok life vest and broom and told to fend off any monkeys that try to board during a Suez Canal transit?
How about being sent after the elusive ID10T that the chief needs right away?
I'd like to hear some of the other service gags run on the new guy. Let's hear em please!

I've got one for you.
One day, one of our Lt's left a message for one of the new guys. On the post it, he wrote that Maj Storm called and left the number to weather. The new Lt. called the number looking for "Maj Storm." HILARIOUS!!

PO3 (Join to see) that's easy - Hazmat for steam and bulkhead remover, lol. That's where the guys told me to go every time they needed me to make a run for something. Next time, ask your boots to grab some flight line while they're at it.

How about the road wheel pressure gauge or the roll of flight line or the radio squelch oil

Oh yes and one I almost forgot, during my time in aviation. telling a SP4 that the tube in front of the pilots seat is an Air to Ground comm system, put it to your mouth and yell in to it air to ground so we can test it out HAHAHA

I certainly do. To get your steam go down to the main engine room and open a steam valve and filler up. Then go to out to the fantail and get a bucket of sea monkeys.

How about bringing back 100 ft of flight line or passing along the aircraft keys to your relief?

1. I need some filiopian tubing, go to supply and ask for some.
2. We need a bag of air, heres a trashbag, come back when its full (watch as the new guy runs around with a bag over him)
3. Your boots are unserviceable, get them NDI'd (that shop, subsequently, tears apart their boots... only done in extreme cases)
4. We're testing the radar system, but we need someone to be in range. Hold this baking sheet over your head and walk back and forth in front of the plane til we tell you your done. (they look like vana white)
5. I need a roll of flight line!
6. If they leave their ID around, put a thin peace of tape over the chip... they can't log in, and the card looks good. Takes a while.
7. If they leave their shirt/jacket unattended for more than 1 day... zip ties, duct tape, and a freezer here it comes!

If you left you hat at work you usually found it as a solid block of ice in the freezer.

Those were the original BDU hats and held water fairly well. Someone left their locker unlocked at work once and had over 100 CD's in it. We spent most of the night shuffling the discs around the cases. We were scolded for that one.

Nice! Yeah, one time a TSgt at my first duty station took my top (BDU's at the time) and hid it in the ceiling during x-mas break... after looking for 3 days he finally left some of the sleeve poking out of a tile, so I found it the day before we got our break. He was a hilarious guy, though he liked to pick on lil ol' A1C me :(

When I was first stationed on Diego Garcia, the Harbor Ops crew told me there was a meeting in the sail loft before lunch. I showed up, they grabbed me, tied off a line around my ankles and hoisted me to the roof. They then tied off the line and went to lunch. I hung upside down by my ankles for 45 minutes, 20' off the ground, until they got back from lunch and lowered me.

box of grid squares to extend map boundries is older than I am and I retired in 1998. a buddy of mine who was a paratrooper told me they sent the new guys to go hunting for canopy lights for night drops. or a can of track tension for apcs mech infantry.
