So I met this guy the other day that is a gym buddy of our kids (20 and 17 year old). Obviously I don't know the entire story but he is 100% disabled for hearing and his back. The moment I met him I wanted to call bullshit. He walked in our home looking like a cartoon superhero and started talking about his workout. He does parkour, and extreme weight lifting. And has since he was in and now that he is out. That immediately raise a flag of bullshit beyond him explaining to us his philosophy on working out and people. He also started to go into his time as a leader in the Air Force...he got out as a E4. I quickly identified him as "that guy". So anyways.

I live in constant pain from protruding disc in my neck. It is intensified by any variety of things but mostly just doing shit. I have days where I literally just want to lay in bed with my percocet in hand and try and numb myself to feel a little normal again and other where it just feels like some one is punching me over and over. I am 50% broken. I don't claim to be more or less broken than I am and don't really care that much about how broken I am I just avoid doing stuff that makes it a percocet day.

So my questions are this;
People that may or may not be using the system are they really hurting the system?
Do you care if people fake disability to get more from a system?
How would you handle your kid around this guy who you know is a freaking idiot?

Fucking disgusting. I am totally disabled and have been fighting for disability for years. People like this deserve a throat punch.

I wouldn't let my kid hang around with someone that wants to teach them how to lie through their teeth in order to get someone else to take care of them. Tell him to either fess up to his BS or just stay away.

I have osteoporosis from ankle surgery, Carpal tunnel, lost of hearing, and 6 other disabilities, yet I still stay in the gym when I can. I sail with Mariners rated 100%. Some barely can move at times, but they still sail. Never let a person's looks fool you!

I dislike seeing these Veterans that are doing the same as your described Veteran.
There are too many of us who are broken on the inside and don't look like there is anything wrong.

Tell your kids the guy is full of crap, since they are old enough to understand. As for the guy himself, you might want to check with your local VA's Ombudsman, or patients advocate.

The system is geared to file a claim. There is a guy I know who tells me his son has problems. I say where was he ? He says doing secret stuff. The guy was a E-4 in Japan in the navy. His kid is out after 3 years or so and collecting for life because he can. On my third mob and have not filed yet. However when we process out the VA comes in and drills it into your head to file a claim. The system is geared toward failure and abuse

I would tell your kids what you believe to be true about him and advise them not to trust him. I think it's wrong and is probably taking up VA assets that could me better spent.

So you get to decide what is 100% disabled and what is not? BA\ased on your extensive medical education and a complete review of his medical records, perhaps?
