We typically were told what training we'd be doing and when. We would then be tasked with running said training.

My description went away when I switched to a survey. Anyway, our bde long range calendar came out recently. The bde has dictated when and where squad live fires will take place. They have done this do to time and resource constraints but the PL's are missing a big part of development. Is this a more common occurrence across the Army? Are PL's and PSG's in other units planning and resourcing their own training?

Doing a CONOP for rifle markmanship and IMT and BMT should not be that difficult for them

SSG Robert Perrotto - it's not about the conop. My concern is the new PL's not using the 8 step training model and building a glide path to T on all collective tasks. My bde training calender isnt, "be ready for live fires by this date." It is, "hey companies, you will do sqd lfx at this date at this place." So my question still remains, are other bdes micromanaging training down to this level? Sorry if my initial question wasn't clear.

to answer the question - yes - we are dictated to - with constraints on unit funding and all the other "downsizing" that has happened in the past few years, they are dictating.

The TEEP, the deployment schedule, and the primary mobility assignment (my company was Truck and foot mobile primary) drove overall training. PltLdrs and PltSgts got guidance from the CO, XO, 1stSgt and CoGysgt each Quarter, then wrote the training schedule for each month.
