Well, yeah..... Duh.
Have your humor gene removed when you made E-8, Top?
Just thought the name was funny.

MSgt George Cater - Just because I responded with what I believed was a factual response, it does not mean I don’t have a sense of humor. As a matter of fact, my humor gene is quite intact and fully functional.

Yes, they are authorized, though it is recommended that you use them solely (no pun intended) for Garrison use, and not any strenuous field work.

If the material is made of synthetic suede, synthetic leather, or anything with the word synthetic, I would not recommend as it isn't a durable boots and not compliant with AR 670-1. Don't get me wrong, I love my first set of Desert Tan Nike Boots and it works for me during OCS, but it didn't last long before falling apart.

I remember similar discussions when Hi-Tech first came out with the Black "Jungle Boot". After it was determined that they were in fact legal, the Cmdr of Ft. Ord banned them on his Post.

_Is there still an issue footwear?
_All other things being equal, does this footwear allow you to out perform your subordinates?
_As a leader, how will you know where the edge of the performance envelope is for your subordinates, when your gear gives you an advantage they don't have?
_Is it good leadership to wear better gear than your subordinates can afford?

I always say that a company commander that scores 300 on APFT but has 50% APFT failure rate in his own company is as much as a failure.

The best way to find out if they are allowed or not is by using your open door policy of your chain of command. Everyone has different bosses and regulations when it comes to footwear. Do not assume just because one unit is wearing them then it’s ok for you.
Wear your regular combat boots that you do every day bring in the ones you have questions about, and show them to your chain of command. Let them see them first hand on how they look and let them decide before you wear them. Let them know they were a gift to you and you were not sure about company policy on the standards of footwear or combat boots so you wanted some clarification on if those meet their standards.

You’re like the 4th person to tell me that SGT I might have to pick a pair of those up too. I was just wondering about these because they were gifted so I might as well put them to use.

Honestly I don’t know if those Nikes are in regs. The Nike Fields are for sure but these idk.

The Garmont NFS is actually better than the Nike SFB because the upper portion are comfortable with enough thickest for ankle support but light enough to run on a 12 miles ruck. PLUS, Garmont T8 is without question AR 670-1 compliant.
