I heard that the vision requirements to be enlisted aircrew are basically the same as for a pilot or navigator; is that true?

I suspect there probably are. The army requires aircrew to pass a class iii flight physical to remain on flight status and there is a vision element to it -- not as stringent as the class i physical pilots have to pass but higher than the enlistment requirements.

Check the Air Force web site. For pilots it used to be 20/20 to get into pilot training. Navigator/systems operators were 20/40 correctable to 20/20. All of this has probably changed. There's also rules about those who have surgery to have their vision corrected to 20/20.
