I'm in the national Guard and I've been subbing part time. The school I was primarily subbing at liked me and asked me to be a consistent teacher assistant. I actually enjoy it a lot. What are resources available to service members to secure teacher certification/licensure?

SPC (Join to see), a brief Google search revealed the Troops to Teachers program is still active and viable, at least in the State of Tennessee. SFC (Join to see) is almost always “spot on” with his guidance and information, and this instance appears to be no different.

I've heard of the Troops to Teachers program....but that was years ago. Not sure if it still exists or suitable to your particular situation.

SPC (Join to see) - it is still an active program. Their web presence is fairly good, you should be able to find a physical office and they can help you. The one at Ft Carson is run by a retired CSM that became a school principal.

SPC (Join to see) - follow the links to your state. Also look for alternate credentialing programs. Being credentialed is sometimes the only path in depending on the needs in your state. My wife had a SPED credential and had a difficult time getting hired. She just got a permanent hire position. https://proudtoserveagain.com

SSG Livingston hit the nail on the head, troops to teacher, I taught for 9 years, middle school science, allot depends on your state and the certifications they require. In Kentucky you can be certified for elementary(K-5), middle school (5-9) and high school, high school requires getting a degree in subject field and then taking the extra state required courses to get your certification in education, but these requirements are different in each state.
