We are becoming so concerned about our little self and feelings that it is more and more hard to have a realistic conversation even with people you do care for. Where are we heading really? Pride and glory only indulge in foolishness. And wisdom goes missing. I do and say whatever I want and nobody can't tell me crap! Is that really how we are intending to move towards a peaceful society?

There seems to be this new group of youngsters coming up in this world that feel entitled. You have to earn your way in this world and one good habit is through respect for yourself and others. Show a little kindness and don't expect everything to go your way! Start working for it through effective communication and a kind word to your fellow human being!

I recently posted a joke in Humor: a duffel blog story about a person who sexually identifies as an A-10. I got down voted and when I "confronted" that person I was told, "You don't know me, I don't have to explain myself to you, and who are you to judge me." Can I get a derp?

There's a difference between having different ideals and being insensitive, but a lot of people think everything is insensitive/racist, you name it.

For example, if I complain about the person at the restaurant who can't understand my order because they don't speak English, and I say something like "If they're going to be working around the public they should speak English" I'm all of a sudden racist.

Copy that.
I did a drive thru mc Donald's for a Big Mac the other day.
Had to turn around and go back.

"Now I am not an expert on this Burger flipping thing. But I am pretty sure that there should be 2 patties on a Big Mac. "

Manager smiled and gave me a new one.

I am politics Incorrect and insensetive to F-Tards.

I think most are self involved, selfish and think America owes them something for all the nothing they've done so far in life.

Are we becoming too sensitive in our country?

The political correctness in the country would dictate yes. We can not say anything that may upset anyone or any country, but.......they can say anything they want about us and we will just sit back and take it. We have become the big kid on the block with the black eye because we refuse to hurt someone's feelings.

Waaaaaay past sensitive. PC and the sense of entitlement have given everyone the idea that you can't say or do ANYTHING against any group or individual person. I'm all for equal treatment but we've come way beyond fairness to the point that the mere appearance of an insult or off comment that an entire community of whatever group of folks steps up and riots or demonstrates in a not so peaceful way.
Lighten up, people...!

Civilians have always been more sensitive and PC than soldiers (at least old school soldiers.) Nowadays, comedians are getting in trouble for telling certain kinds of jokes. Tracey Morgan got in trouble not too long ago for telling a gay joke. If Eddie Murphy did his Delirious tour today, he'd be stoned to death. Everybody is going out of their way to call Bruce Jenner a beautiful woman. I don't remember whatever he changed his name to, but if he legally changed his name, I'll call him that now. (Like a boy named Sue.) As far as calling him "her", nah. Whatever undercarriage work HE's had, he's still male. It doesn't matter if he looks like a woman (an ugly one) or if he feels like a woman. What matters is science. His chromosomes are still XY. That is what makes you male. Until those change, he's still a man...just a man with bolt-ons and a lot of undercarriage work.

Too many other examples to list.

Unfortunately SSG Paul Ellis, this isn't something that is limited to civilians. I encounter this all the time here on RP --- you need to look no further than PO1 John Miller's post on this thread for an example of what I am referring to.

I am fine with people. They are not fine with the Constitution.
This experiment we call America is work.
I have become very libertarian.

I don't care what you do as long as it does not effect me or hurt any one.

I used to say you must abide by the constitution but then I realized that is a collar and chai to keep our governed in check.

I k ow we are not supposed the be political here so I will stop that part there.

Like the Col before me mentioned.
Earn your boots.
Respect is earned not given.

Civilians (for the most part) have no idea.

Old Glory is like a religion to me.
Step on her an I will cut you leg off and beat you with it.

Carry on.

One is allowed to speak their mind, but one should know there is a time and a place for everything. There are extremes on both sides on sensitivity and freedom of speech.

Interesting. Seinfeld said something similar about comedians not being able to tell jokes about particular subjects today. You will offend someone somewhere all the time.

There's always going to be that one guy no matter what, can't really control that unless we silence everyone. But, one doesn't go to a Church during service and start spreading atheism, or go to a mosque during service and call everyone a terrorist.

It happens. Comedians of course should be open to all topics, the audience should also know what they're getting themselves into. An audience member should be aware that a comedian is known to make racist or discrimination jokes.

It becomes a fault on both ends honestly. I mean I can be that guy to go to a church service and say that service offends me, or I can just not go. One should take responsibility to know.

It stems from two root problems:

1)Parenting/Upbringing
2)The idea that we can all get along

We can debate about spanking/whipping but since the debate really gained traction in the late 80s (Gen Y), we see the results from that generation now. It has now proliferated to the next level which is where we are today. You can also remember that is when the participation trophys/ribbons and graduations from kindergarten started.

We are human and are bound to conflict. That will never change.

I remember the days when you neighbor would whip you for doing something wrong and then call the house and you would get one again because the neighbor had to straiten you out. Those were the days where there was no excuses for your issues. You solely where held responsible for your actions. I am not PC and refuse to be. You don't get a participation trophy from this guy. I am not going to whip your kid, but don't think I wouldn't tell you he is needs better parenting and I hope to offend when saying it.
