Well once again the Army is changing the point system. How do you fill about this and or would you rather see the Army switch to the testing system like the other branches?

I feel that the Army should go back to a version of the MOSQ testing that they did in the early and mid 80's that incorporates the Soldiers knowledge of technical and tactical skills.  That way we could start weeding out Soldiers that get promoted because of who they know and get promoted because of what they know.

The downside SFC those who are most technically proficient, are not neccessarily good leaders.   And how would that change the way we do MOS changes would SGT or SSG be able to change MOS.

The only thing that changed was that SSD is no longer worth promotion points. Its a small change but yet another change.

SSD isn't worth much anyway in my opinion.  A bunch of power points with a test.  Just give me a book to read and call it a day.

Point system is good as long as they stop changing the system. The only down fall is that anybody can get promoted all they have to do is score good on an APFT, Range, have some awards, do some Civilian Ed and Military ED, but that doesn't mean they are right for the promotion.

I have a question, don't know if this is really right place to ask.
I m presently at AIT, done with basic training few weeks ago.
I have a bachelors degree bUT was unable to enlist with it cos I could not get my transcript evaluated.
I have asked my platoon sergeant if I can be promoted but she promised talking with the 1st sgt. It's been 3wks now and nothing from her despite constant reminder.

My question is, can I still get promoted here at AIT because I habe my transcript evaluated?
If no, can it be possible I get promoted to E4 when I get to my duty station?
Please I néed an urgent response coz my AIT graduation is fast approaching.
Thanks all.

Testing like the other branches. Definitely. On top of doing my job, personal pt, college, making sure my house is clean, cooking and cleaning, and taking care of my daughter, I also have to make sure I find a few minutes to do some correspondence courses that have no relevence to my life or my work. And I have to do a shit ton of them just to get some decent points. Totally pointless.
