As you survey the state of the nation, are you, like me, beginning to feel like a cancer patient?

I feel like a cancer patient. Government has been growing like a tumor for many years and I only recently became aware of it. Now I'm racing around, desperately looking for a answers. How did my nation contract this? What caused it? Can it be excised? Will we survive?
Once upon a time we were a healthy nation. We grew from thirteen original colonies into the most successful nation in all of history. A robust economy. A fearless people sure in their ability to rise and meet any challenge. Then one day we turn around and we're on life support.
All forms of cancer are simply abnormal growths of seemingly healthy cells. Our government is like that. Exactly like that. Like cancer it didn't really bother us until it did. It seems that one day it wasn't there and then it was life threatening.
Ordinarily you'd expect the body to defend itself. Stop feeding the unhealthy tissue. The body isn't that smart. Normal processes that feed and nurture the healthy parts continue to feed the unhealthy. We just can't seem to tell the difference.
Yes, there are some who choose to ignore the tumor. It's not that bad, they argue. Obviously, we can't live the same limited government that originally served our needs. We much bigger and more dynamic now. Sadly, they can't see that the tumor in Washington is strangling us, sapping lifeblood that should be going to feed the healthy parts.
There are physicians who know how to heal us but their voices have been drowned out by intellectuals who preach the benefits of modern remedies. Progressive remedies. And they're simply hastening the end.

Put very well. A little here and a little there isn't really noticed. Then it's full blown and out of hand. Sadly enough we have ourselves to blame for letting those cancer cells remain (Congress) instead of cutting them out when they were small and controllable.
