At any point during OSUT for PSYOP, do we receive privileges to gain access to our cell phones?

Hello! I am currently looking into entering PSYOP but I was wondering something.I know the training itself is OSUT and takes about 43 weeks, I want to know though if at any point we receive privileges to gain access to our devices again during one of the phases. I want to be sure my family and friends know what to expect in regards to me reaching out if I go through with my decision and hopefully make it through the qualifications.

Look, you are grown- you will have to earn anything above the basics during training- and no a phone is not a basic. As you progress during your training restriction will be lifted if earned.

Thank you sir for the response. I was only curious because I know it varies with every type of training and this isn’t a typical BCT or AIT. My main worry involves keeping in touch with loved ones at some point, but worse case scenario I continue with sending letters throughout the duration.

Nadine Bellina From long ago and far away - letters or access to a pay phone were the only methods back when the earth was cooling (Ft Monmouth in 1959 for a 9 month school). Letter writing is a great skill to have - don't lose it in favor of instant voice or digital communication. Good luck with your PSYOP efforts.

That is a very valid point sir, I will admit instant messaging may have spoiled me a little. Excited to see what the future holds!SP5 (Join to see)

You will at one point, the OSUT you'll be going to is MP OSUT, PSYOP itself isn't an OSUT, it's just that for some reason the powers that be decided that MP OSUT would be your initial training.
The PSYOP pipeline is not entirely OSUT, once you complete OSUT you'll move on to Airborne School, then on to POPC, that is: The PSYOP Prep Course for selection, you'll then move on to selection, and the Q course after that. You'll get your stuff back at some point during the pipeline, but the timing is dependent on a couple things.

Is this for Active Duty or Reserves?
If AD, check out my other post in the 37F group.
