Some military movies got overlooked in the recognition department. I liked "The Siege of Firebase Gloria"-just because R. Lee Ermey rocked it with his one-liners! What other less-known tasty military nuggets are out there, possibly undiscovered?

MSG William Frank - Boys in Company C was terrific! I watched that movie a few weeks before leaving for Paris Island it almost convinced me not to go. lol Gunny Sgt R. Lee Ermy was in that movie as a Drill Instructor also I think was a SSgt in it. The short hispanic Drill Instructor was the real deal too.

Hell in the Pacific - Only two actors in entire film and neither could speak each others language. Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune

Good call. Lee Marvin was an actual PH'd Marine from WWII.

The magic of that film is it sucks you in, the first time I watched it, I felt like I was stuck on that island with them.

Tigerland is a good one with Colin Ferrel. Also , Saints and Soldiers is a little known WWII movie that I thought was outstanding.

Saints and Soldiers is free on Netflix PO3 Garrett Fincher I'm not sure about Tigerland. I liked Colin Ferrel in that one but I think he pulled off the Recruit (w/ Al Pacino) a little better.

"Ambush Bay" they showed us this in Boot camp at the range, and told us to pay attention to the booby traps in it, that we would be seeing them soon. Hugh O'brian, Mickey Rooney. It was pretty good, I have only seen it once since '66/
