I really like the RallyPoint Discussions (or Answers, what ever you want to call it) feature.  However, does anyone else agree that there should be some more organization to it?  Currently, you can only browse the popular/recent discussions, and sifting through those can be tiresome.  If RallyPoint implemented a forum-like feature, where topics could be separated and easily navigated through, I think discussions would have increased involvement, and people searching for specific topics to discuss would find things a lot easier.

I believe the "tech guys" may be working on something like you suggest PFC Dydasco.  MAJ Weiss, CPT Kletzing and their team are working real hard to constantly improve the site as a whole.  The "search" feature was recently introduced and they welcome input through the "Feedback" feature to the right of the page.

The "tech guys" are doing great things for this site and I enjoy our feedback is being put to great use. Wish Congress worked like that.

I'd like to resurrect this topic with a couple suggestions.

First of all, I would like to see the option of sorting discussions (Answers) by date started. I understand we can sort responses within the discussion by date, but I am referring to sorting the discussion threads themselves by date created. For those of us who came into the game 'late', it would be nice to go back in time so to speak and review some of the old discussions without having to scroll through hundreds or thousands of screens.

Secondly, I have a few discussions under 'my discussions' that were merged into other threads and there is no way to 'unfollow' those threads (just the one it was merged into).

Thoughts?

I agree. We are duplicating the questions! I think they have that --> Popular tags, click on the topic and you will posts in that topic.

One of the things we'll be introducing by next week is the ability for a moderator to close/merge duplicate discussions, so that will hopefully take care of this immediate &nbsp;concern.<div><br></div><div>We also plan to implement additional "group" led discussions in the next month or two. This is a major undertaking on our end, as we want to retain the value of cross-talk and the benefit we all get when there is free exchange across ranks and branches of service, but at the same time make it easier for people to simply focus on certain discussions as well. We put a lot of thought into the design and implementation, and always appreciate member feedback.</div><div><br></div><div>Keep the feedback coming... nearly everything we build originates with member recommendations.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>By the way, you should also try searching for topics using the search bar at the top. It's not just for asking questions... it also searches for topics previously discussed, which is supported by question tags and many other elements. For example, you can do a search for your MOS "Automated Logistics Specialist" and you'll see a list of all discussions others with your MOS are in.</div>

<p>Thank you for the update MAJ Weiss!! I noticed you guys are making constant changes (for the better) and that is much appreciated. Like the "edit" feature, which you just used with your post, which is helpful!!</p><p><br></p>

Thanks! The duplicate/merged thread was actually implemented today, as well as some other small features. For example, you can download your profile now in resume format from your own profile page (it's above where you have your number of contacts displayed). Also, going directly to a discussion response from an iPhone/Safari browser should finally be working properly now, plus lots of other little improvements. We even updated the rank images this week as you may have noticed. We're also constantly working on the speed. Nobody likes a slow website. Another little thing... the comment respond box is at the bottom of the comment list (see below), and not the top.&nbsp; We add a little bit every week.

Not sure what direction you're going to go with the 'search engine' but I'm aware of a platform that when you START a discussion, if too may key words match an already existing thread instead of beginning a redundant discussion you are taken to the thread that closely mirrors your topic.
I've had reasonable success with the search box here, but have found that there are still discussions I've missed due to being unable to find them for what ever reason. Incremental improvements are accepted better by users than whole sale changes. I can't imagine that hosting or space is a problem but figure at some point you'll migrate to your own server.
Haven't thought about how you're going to retain open thread discussions and also have group selective threads but will see what I can figure out.
