Looks like the Gov. of California has banned the Confederate flag:
"Starting next year, the Confederate flag will no longer be available for sale or on display at government agencies in California. Governor Jerry Brown has signed a new law that prohibits selling or displaying items that have the flag on it."
What are you thoughts on this new ban?

This article is misleading. The Confederate Flag wasn't banned... it just won't be sold at Government agencies. I think the Governor has the right to decide what to sell at "Government Stores" -- I'm actually not sure why they would be selling any flag other than the American or State flag to begin with.

As usual, you are spot on, Sir! In the original article I read a while back, the 'replica flag' referred to in this article was actually replica confederate currency which was being sold at the gift shop in the State Capitol building. The law has zero effect on private individuals or businesses.

LTC Yinon Weiss Some "government stores" will sell you all the flags that were part of American history. For example you can go to the gift shop in a DC "government store" and buy the flag for any state you wanted.

If everything that offends someone is banned, there would be nothing left.
I do find it ironic that a Democrat governor feels it necessary to ban the symbol of the Confederacy, yet belongs to the political party that gave birth to the KKK, supported slavery, and voted against the Equal Rights Amendment.
The Democrat Party offends me... I demand it be banned. :-)

SSG Grant... I never claimed to be entitled to my own facts, but, of course, neither are you. If you would check the "facts", 80% of Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as compared to only 60% of Democrats.
I am fully aware of the change in philosophy of the parties and was commenting on history. The fact now is that the Republican Party is all about trying to ensure our country once again becomes the great country it once was, whereas the Democrat/Progressive Party has embraced the philosophies of socialism and are destroying this country with its immoral, entitlement, class warfare, racist, unconstitutional, anti-religion, policies and causes. I realize those are my opinions, but they are backed up by facts and evidence that anybody who does not have theirs heads up their asses can plainly see.
As you can see from the string above... This issue was beat to death about 9 months ago and has just been resurrected for some reason. I don't really care to debate it any more.

However, the article goes off the rails pretty quickly, and no less ironically, when it states, “200 years ago, in 1814, our president was James Madison – a Democrat, a great man in other ways, but a slaveowner...”.
That’s an interesting perspective, considering that Madison won the 1808 election as a Democratic-Republican. It’s particularly interesting, considering that the Democratic-Republicans were referred to by a shortened name...’Republicans’.

Heck, the Democrats didn’t pop up until the mid 1820s, when the Democratic-Republican party broke apart. One branch evolved into National-Republicans (who died out fairly quickly), led by John Quincy Adams, and the Democrats, led by Andrew Jackson.
