Let's say you make a donation to a specific unit's FRG. Can you classify that legally as charitable donations?

Unless they are registered as a charitable organization (cant remember the exact coding), then no it is not a legal donation for tax purposes. But your donation does help go towards more burgers and hot dogs at a unit function.

Only if the FRG is a registered 501(c)3. Back at LV any donations made had to go to the BN and the BN and CSM would divide the donation through all the companies.

Can a donation to an individual unit's Family Readiness Group be legally considered a charitable donation?

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. So is there no easy way to donate to a specific unit (even a large one like a Division) and have it be charitable?
