I’m here at AIT and I have this drill sergeant that absolutely hates everything me and another person in our platoon does the first 2 weeks we did get off on the wrong hand but I just wasn’t use to the freedom coming fresh out of basic I told her that and I’ve been staying under the radar for a while but she just looks for any and everything to chow us out about or give us a counseling so today we had a random room expectation and our rooms got trashed me and the guy she hates also so what she did was thrower everything out our drawers and brought the females to our room and told them that this is how we live and we’re dirty so she took our phones and a couple more guys I gave her a phone but she said I had more than one phone so she made me open my locker and searched through my bags in my locked locker with no permission and found a old phone I was wrong for not turning it in but everyone is telling me to go talk to my 1Sgt because it wasn’t right how I was the only one that got searched and she was never given permission to search any of my personal belongings she just decided to and made me open my locker should I talk to my first sergeant about this? Or is this just something I should just deal with 8 more weeks because I think she is trying to get me put out and I can’t take it

You joined the Army. Your Drill Sergeant has every right to trash your locker, your room and your personal space. You are a soldier. You are supposed to follow orders. If you don't, there will have a price to pay. A word of advice, start trying to "Be All You Can Be." Be a model soldier. You will find that leads to the easiest path for you. There is no flying under the radar unless you are an under-achiever that can stay out of trouble. If you do the best that you can always, then your next few years will be easy. If you don't want to cooperate and follow instructions, then your next few years will be hard and un-rewarding. The choice is yours. You made a choice to join the Army and serve your country. That was honorable. Now, you should decide to conduct yourself honorably in your service.

Oh, those pesky Rules and Regulations. You obviously feel you have the right to pick and choose which ones you obey and ones you don’t. If you don’t understand by now why they exist, I expect you will have a short career. You are being judged constantly by everyone around you as well as the Cadre training has you. Do you apply yourself a hundred percent or are you a half stepper. Can you be relied upon in Combat or is your ability and judgment in question? No one wants to fight beside anyone they can’t depend on 100%. If you fudge on the little things, you will also do it on the big ones. You need to step back and take a long look at who you are and why you’re there.

Short and easy answer her, future Soldier: She is an NCO, so yes. The rest of the answer: She's your Drill Sergeant. She went through more hell than YOU can handle to be in her trusted position. Her seniors, from the Senior DS to the commander, to the POTUS has entrusted their authority to her. You're a trainee, and trainees must EARN that trust, as did she.

Hey, I'm an old Drill. Let me tell you something. Your DS knows the rules and regulations much better than you do. Don't challenge her. Just do what you're suppose to do and you'll be fine. Don't do what you're suppose to do and you'll lose. Keep your mouth shut. It keeps others from seeing how stupid you are. Put the effort in and the Drill will see it. It's all about attitude. Plus, go to your First Sergeant and he see the snowflake your parents raised. It's like going to mommy. Be strong. Be an individual. The service is making something out of you. Take advantage of it.

You should get out of Army and into something that doesn't require discipline, Army needs no one like you.

Consider yourself lucky. My AIT was 56 weeks long. Thats not a typo. FIFTY-SIX weeks. I think you can handle eight. Just stop f*cking up and listen to the DS. She is there to teach you, you offer her nothing to learn.

As a Retired MP, your DS has every right to search all your items! If the DS feels that you have something that you shouldn’t they will ask you to open it, if you don’t get ready! Plus if you’re DS feels that you have something dangerous the MP’s will open it for your DS! To me you have made yourself a huge target for whatever you did repeatedly! I think that you might want to look for something else to do with your life; cause you’re going to get someone killed!

When I went through Basic & AIT (66') the DI's could do anything they wanted and we were afraid to challenge them... Can't speak to the Modern Army.
