Can anyone explain if this guy I know is pretending to be a LTC?

An old friend of mine randomly posted a photo of himself in OCP’s with LTC rank. He told everyone that he just joined the Army Rerserves. I asked him what unit, and he told me it’s the 101st Airborne. He has a BS in nursing. He’s 45 years old. He’s not on ako or on enterprise. My question is, does this story smell fishy?

Ask him how he was commissioned, It is possible to get a direct commission at a higher rank depending on job and experience and of course needs of the ARMY.
But do sound like B.S.

Actually, MEDCOM has some unique ways of doing things. I would have someone in the military look him up on Global.

The current uniform has been in use since 2011/12 so that isn’t a method of dating the photo. Are there reserve medical units assigned to the Divisions? Is he in the IRR? I worked with a Dept of State FO in Iraq. One day he shows up in uniform vs civilians, turns out he’s an O5 in IRR and was doing his AT for points only in country while doing his normal job. His DoS supervisor ok’ed it. Don’t rush to condemn

Just joined? BS in Nursing? That won't get him a LTC rank.
Enlisted that could get Specialist coming in but that's the other side of things.

I know a Doctor Who joined the military in 2012 he was a highly sought after and respected Dr. out of Springfield Illinois he was going through basic training at the rank of major not ever being in the military the reason for the Rankin Vance meant was because of his profession and time in the profession I could not believe that they would give someone with a bachelors degree in nursing unless they were one special person and nursing the rank of lieutenant Colonel ask him for a copy of his DD 214 that will tell you

Yes. Like three week old Mackerel sitting out in the hot Sun, in the middle of a 6 month long drought

The IT folks are pretty good in regards to AKO. Within two months of my retirement, my account was closed. I have no doubt they open accounts just as fast and he should be in the white pages of AKO.
You could also send what his posted to the 101st IG Office and let them address it.

A Nurse would be assigned not to the 101st, but to a hospital or clinic. Hospitals do not fall under the 101st, but are a separate command, under the Med Corps and the Surgeon General.

This post is over a year old. But I’m curious, what was the resolution to this ma’am?
