Can anyone explain if this guy I know is pretending to be a LTC?

An old friend of mine randomly posted a photo of himself in OCP’s with LTC rank. He told everyone that he just joined the Army Rerserves. I asked him what unit, and he told me it’s the 101st Airborne. He has a BS in nursing. He’s 45 years old. He’s not on ako or on enterprise. My question is, does this story smell fishy?

Who cares, you must have a lot of time to be chasing people. Stalk him and find out for yourself.

No prior service, it does not matter. There is zero Reserve unit of the 101st in medical support

I got out in 1989, and, to the best of my knowledge, the 101st Airborne (Air Assault ;-) ) is not a reserves unit, nor has been since WWI.
As for the medical profession getting in at an elevated officer rank, quite possible. But an RN getting a LTC? Sounds implausible to me. As a full PHD/MD, sure.
I could be wrong, though. Always apply Occam's Razor to any story.

Sounds very fishy. If he doesn't have an ako or enterprise account then something isn't right.

Probably BS, but as an Nurce he could come in at a higher ranch depending on is time as a professional and his medical credentials. LTC seems problematic. And Reservist can be assigned to Active Component usually as Individual Mobilization Augmentees (IMA). So the story seems fishy but it is not conclusive.

It's the 101st Air Assault; hasn't been designated airborne for years. 101st doesn't have a reserve element. Unlikely that a BS in nursing would warrant LTC.

BTW. As an O-3 you should be able to differentiate for yourself. Kind of makes me want to question your veracity. Or, at least your intellect.

I do not know about this Nurse, but a lot of you have never heard of IMA program where USAR officers are assigned to fill a slot in an Active Duty unit. This guy sounds funny though.
