Can anyone tell me how the Post 9-11 GI Bill works? Do service members contribute to it? How much benefits do you earn?

Pasting VA web page about it. This does not require contribution (Old Montgomery GI bill did), but 100% of benefit requires 36 months of active service. The active service can include mobilization as a reservist, but does not include initial training (boot camp or rating school does not count). Less than 36 months qualifies for prorated smaller amount. If using as a veteran, you must have honorable discharge.

Apply for and manage the VA benefits and services you’ve earned as a Veteran, Servicemember, or family member—like health care, disability, education, and more.
