Pasting VA web page about it. This does not require contribution (Old Montgomery GI bill did), but 100% of benefit requires 36 months of active service. The active service can include mobilization as a reservist, but does not include initial training (boot camp or rating school does not count). Less than 36 months qualifies for prorated smaller amount. If using as a veteran, you must have honorable discharge.

You can collect the benefits monthly or wait until the end of the School year. Depends on when you file..I also got Pell grants and loans that were forgiven due to beingdosabled.... if you're married... Wife gets the Money if you hide it she will find it...
