Can I jog on a no-running profile, or am I stuck walking everywhere?

Most likely stuck walking everywhere. I got put on light duty once and was told I couldn't run. But everyone knew I ran everywhere. I eventually had people watching out for me to try and catch me running. Threatened to write me up if they caught me running again.
I get it, they're only watching out for me and want to make sure I heal properly. But it can be frustrating when you're really motivated and want to train hard. So be careful.

Unless it says something along the lines of "run at your own pace" you can't run, unfortunately.

Sounds as if you have access to a pool. They may have ‘running vests’ that keep you upright while you are ‘running’ in the deep end of the pool. There are a number of workouts you can do that will keep you in shape for running, but keep weight off your knees. From time to time I’ll have an injured XC runner do such exercises—anywhere from 3-6 weeks—and they get a pretty healthy workout out of it. When they leave the pool and are cleared to run, they haven’t lost much at all. Their aerobic conditioning is still there, and only takes a few days to readapt to running on the track. Just a thought.

I had improperly trained for two races and ended up with stress fractures in both legs. The only thing that kept me sane was the post's pool PT program. It gave me a good workout and helped me burn off a lot restless energy. Good advice Major.

Check your profile to see if it states "Run Own Pace/Distance" first. If it doesn't, then walking you shall be doing forever until ETS

Only two people can authorize you to break a profile, yourself and your commander. As long as you don't further injure yourself you can lightly jog. If someone has issues with it you can go to the TMC/BAS/Doc whatever and ask for med docs that will help modify your profile.

40-501 chapter 7 is for physical profiles. I read through it about 3 times and it doesn't give a clear answer. As long as you don't further injure yourself it shouldn't be an issue, if someone makes a fuss, go back to the doc and get documentation saying you can run at your own pace.

That's my current plan but idk how to go about that with being in the national guard now. It's not like i can roll into sick call. I think i got an idea on how to do it however.

Go to your primary care, have them write that for you, and turn it into your medical readiness NCO. If you are on a temp profile you should be submitting med docs every few weeks/months already anyway.

Roger, I pulled up an old one by mistake. Wow, that is very restrictive, and doesn't show any modified exercises you can do. There got to be a provider out there willing to modify that profile.

A couple of years ago i was placed on permanent profile for my knee because cancer killed the inside of my femur. I was told the only way to make it heal is to continue to do cardio but i can't make the 2 mile run right now because it starts to hurt after that much sustained impact. I really want to know if i can jog around instead of walking everywhere.

It might be something to look into. A lot of military PT clinics are now direct access, which means you can go there without a PCM referral, but in your case you might have to see a PCM to get your profile changed. At the clinic I'm in now the Alter G is used for return to run protocols for folks post-operation, but it sounds like you might benefit from it as well.

Another issue I'm having right now is. I'm national guard so my pcm is a civilian that only has some basic information about my knee and isn't really willing to help out.
