I served in the Marine Corps for 8 years and got out ( very dumb mistake) however, I got into the ANG and feel that it’s not the route I want to take. Any info will be helpful. Thanks in advance

SGT Christopher Watson - the path back in is through a recruiter, especially if you need a waiver. Unless they are a current or recent recruiter, no one on here can tell you. What the recruiter wants is a recruit to ship. Sounds like you want that too. If it can't be done, he'll tell you so he doesn't waste time on it. I'm assuming RE Code is good and your last discharge was honorable. Don't know what he'd tell you that would be what you want to hear. He either can or can't put you back in boots. You know what you are asking for and not some kid still dithering between level 12 Druid sniper seal ninja and MOS 4212. This may be a situation where the recruiter can work with you on a DD368 Conditional Release from the ARNG. It may not. The recruiter is the point of entry. If you don't like what you get back, don't take it.

Go to your recruiter and apply -- make sure you tell the recruiter you are a serving member of the National Guard. As part of the process you will need to request a conditional release from service from your Guard unit. If you pass muster with the corps, your Guard unit should release you and off you go.

I don't believe so. I think that any recruiter will be geared up to handle prior service. When I went from the National Guard to regular army I just walked into the local recruiter and I was in uniform within 6 weeks.
That being said -- this WAS in 1982.

You will need a conditional release from your CoC or you will have to wait until your ETS. Following that, talk to a Marine recruiter.
