Can I get a civilian drivers license with a military drivers license? | RallyPoint
I’m currently on rotation in Korea out of Fort Hood. I’m a military brat so didn’t have license being fron overseas. I now have a restricted license to drive Brads, 113’s, and humvees in the MP. When I get back to Hood can I go to the DMV with my mil license, proof of residency, and letter from my CO and basically pick up a civilian license without having to take any tests? Been asking around but no clear answers. Thanks.

I used my government driver's license and got a CDL but that was 45 years ago. Check with your DMV.

In Pennsylvania, MAYBE. Never used to be able to, but somewhat recently, you can convert a military Truck Driver's License to a CDL by only taking the Driver's Test. Could be the same for a regular license .. but then again, in my day, you had to have a civilian license to obtain a military license. Well, at least for an ambulance, MP or other emergency vehicle. Things no doubt have changed; but I know when my son deployed to Iraq (Transpiration - truck driver) he had to have his PA License before leaving Ft. Dix.
