I am going back to basic training as an E-4, after a few years out of the service. I am Airborne and Air Assault qualified...should I wear (if it's allowed of course) my patches...or should I just try to keep a low profile? What would you do?

Dumb question but if you already have those badges why are you in BCT now? My son went to BCT then Air Assault

I am also qualified in both... I'd bring a copy of my 214 with me to training so that there are no.questions. but you earned them. I'd say wear them.
P.S. I was as lso a reserve forces Drill Sergeant

Absolutely wear them. I went through basic with a guy who had been an E-7 in Nam and he wore his jump wings and CIB. We had much respect as trainees for him. You might draw some heat from the drills at first but not as much as you would if they find out you’re not wearing badges you earned. I don’t know about you but I worked my balls off for my wings. Be proud.

Don't do it, it's gonna be more headache then it's worth. Put that shit on when you get through whatever schools you need to do.

Sure, be a spotlight Ranger in Basic Training. Drill Sergeants will love you for it.

I guess my confusion is why you are going through basic training, again..... I have been out for a very long time, but it seems like going back through basic is a waste.....

Even if authorized, I don't think I would wear mine until graduation day. You will already stand out due to your age, experience and having your sh1t together not to mention your E-4 rank. For me personally that would bring more attention than I want anyway.

my farther told me before i left for basic (to keep my ears & eyes open and mouth shut as you have already served you should know the answer to that the DI's know who you are and what you have done you should have asked the recruiter and it might depend on the MOS you are going in to your old unit uniform patches may not apply they issued me my unit patches in basic it was so long ago i can't remember if at the end or the beginning of basic ????

My 2 cents...don't wear them until graduation day. Then don all of Awadrs/decorations and CSI you have earned. You dont need to put on a show you are there to train. Dont hesitate to be a leader that the younger Soldiers can look up to but dont get in too deep unless the Cadre pin that rose on you.
