Army or Air Guard state ribbons/medals are only authorized wear when in Guard status and only in that assigned state. They are not recognized federally active or reserve.

I was Army Reserve and Army Guard, I joined the ANG and was activated and deployed after 9/11. When I got my DD 214 after that period of Active Duty, all my Army Reserve and Guard medals were listed on it including the ANG medals awarded during that period. No one ever said anything about the Non AF being on my ribbon rack.

TSgt William Meyer - Non AF Federal ribbons can be worn. I wore a Marine Good Conduct ribbon on my rack. Just read the appropriate regulations.

You can not. Those awards are from your state when you are in title 32. They were only recognized by the state. The Army reserve is still the federal army. The federal army doesn't recognize State awards. It is the same way when a national guard officer gets a state promotion and doesn't have his Federal promotion so the federal government doesn't recognize it.

Good to see you still pop in once in a while. I’ll never forget your comments about the Smell of 2LT butter bars in the dark ages. I think it got you about a million points.

This from DA PAM 670-1, paragraph 22–5. "Order of precedence within categories of medals". Seems like it depends upon your status. MAJ (Join to see) CPT (Join to see)
