Can male soldiers wear lipstick, earrings and ripped clothes while off duty, but on post?

Had an interesting moment where in a soldier had me direct dial his BN CMD while correcting him about him wearing black lipstick, earrings, finger jewlery and ripped pants.
The CMD informed me I needed to read the regulations, which I have done so.
As far as I've read and know, there has been no update that allows male soldiers to wear this off-duty while on post.

Well... I don't know about Army... but in the Marine Corps, that definitely doesn't fly. Thanks for this though. Definitely gave me a good laugh and morale boost to start my day.

Marines have a civilian dress code now Corps wide I thought. I had a Marine on another military website posting about it and complaining. Thought he was joking but then he posted excerpts from the policy. It sounds reasonable but I am not sure a Private in the Marines can afford a lot of Levi's Dockers pants with polo shirts to go off base I remember being a Private in the Army and being fairly cash strapped. Time will tell if it works I guess.

SPC Erich Guenther - They do have a dress code and I don't know how recent it is, but it's been around for at least a couple years. It really is reasonable since the majority of the time you're in uniform. When I got to the fleet, I picked up a couple weekend outfits which were easy to rotate. Personally I saw no issue with the dress code. I feel like it helped hold yourself to a higher standard. My favorite people are the ones who get caught not adhering to it. It's one thing if you went back home and dressed like a slob... but if you're out in a military community, you know you're going to get called out on it.

Is the homosexual lifestye widely accepted in the active ranks now. This would appear there is still some resistance to deviate behavior on post.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Not sure why you are so upset..... did you read what I wrote..... I COULD CARE LESS WHETHER YOU ARE OR ARE NOT HOMOSEXUAL OR TRANSGENDER.... it is your private business.... and more important NOT IMPORTANT TO THIS DISCUSSION
Look up the term "assumption' it is simply a guess based on evidence presented...... in that MORE homosexuals / transgender wear lipstick and ear rings (note two rings not just one)....than straight men who wear lipstick and ear rings..... an OBVIOUS assumption is that the person is PROBABLY homosexual / transgender..... NOTHING NEGATIVE MEANT OR IMPLIED..... AND as I said not important either way.
As too assaulting anyone sexually .....where did I say or imply anyone assaulted anyone sexually....I cited an assault impulse of a "homophobic" NCO....Where did I say or imply homosexuals assault or harass anyone.... I cited an event that happened to me involving someone who FELT he was accosted .... I did not characterize anyone gay or transgender.... not to sound too trite but I not only have gay friends....I even have a gay cousin.... I do not understand you anger ....hostility....and defensive tone
I have written personal experiences with gays in the service BEFORE the DADT was repealed.....events that occurred when being gay would get you killed or at least thrown out of the service ..... I did not have trouble with them then; I do not have a problem with them now.....
You use strawman arguments.....how men wearing lipstick / makeup in history and how society felt about them THEN....has little or nothing to do with how OUR society feels about men wearing lipstick and make up today.....
When it looks like a duck....walks like a duck ....sounds like a duck...... most people will think it is a duck even if it is a swan

That you should post this question is rather disturbing in and of itself.

What... why is this a question? You pull out the registration and make him pour out where it says those are uniform items.

Well I don't gage my career off being scared and I won't lay down and let Soldier do what they want. That's what's wrong with the Army, everyone is worried someone won't like the truth. I have brought problems up before well above the BN commander. You can't relive me for doing the right thing, they could try but I would be interested in the cause.

1SG (Join to see) - you are better off ratting the Batallion Commander out to the IG than getting into an unwinnable fight with an feild grade officer

I know! I don't fight with officers, I don't have too. I am only enforcing their regulations, they can just make a policy letter so they can assume the responsibility. My point is I am not going to cower down when the right thing is being done. Senior leaders are supposed to adivise that chain of command and challenge when the right thing is in question. Only way they can reduce me is to court marshal me and I am pretty sure there would be no preceding for following the rules. I know my boundaries, I am a very developed Non- Commisoned Officer. Thank you for your response.

I had a 1SG who noticed a soldier wearing an earring in formation one morning. He walked over to the kid, reached out, gently grasped the jewelry, and ripped it from his ear. Then he held his trophy up and announced in a loud voice "Not in my GD formation!" These days he'd be prosecuted, but I still think he was a great 1SG. It's the military, not a rave or a LGBTQ convention. Get with the program, or get out.

Nor should there be... As long as they're in One of the Nation's Services, They're Representing the Red, White & Blue and Our Nation... Which has Standards & Service Members need to reflect those Standards, Whether on Duty or NOT!
There's a way to cure the problem... We used to call it an "Unsuitability Discharge"... Do they use those any more?
Perhaps they should! If there are Members that don't wish to conform with the "Norms" of "Military Society", then return them to "Civilian Society" where they can behave like undisciplined boobs! Good Riddance...

Since when did the military become a democracy? This is behavior unbecoming a member of the military and undermines cohesiveness and discipline. Troops cant act however the feel and its disgraceful and an embarrassment to our Nation!

No, not on post at least. The only way a soldier can be excused of crossdressing is if they are going to a midnight screening of Rocky Horror, or their name is Cpl Klinger.
