I have read through ATP 7-22.01. The latest publication still has the old 6.2 mile (10K) information in it. I know the alternate bike event instructions state that the rider may set the seat and handlebar positions as well as set the resistance before starting time. Can the SM adjust the resistance during the event?

If I recall correctly we could not ride our own bike, we had an old one speed bike from the supply room that couldn't be changed.

That was the case with the previous test in the APFT. The newer test used as an alternate aerobic event in the current ACFT has different, still-being-tested rules.

I believe as long as they don't stop , they can make adjustments to resistance. It would be unrealistic and unreasonable to not have resistance change to ensure time is met.

That's my take. But I am going to be taking the test at MLC next month and I don't know how TRADOC instructors feel about this. I guess I can find out at the time

1SG (Join to see) from what I know they are still working on the scoring system, but you are expected to adjust the bike to what you want before you start and after you start you can make any adjustments that do not require you to dismount the bike, or take longer then a 30 second pause. We have a guy that does the row, one that walks, but no one that has done the bike yet.

SSG (Join to see) The previous version of the bike had a set resistance (10 Newtons) but was also only 10K. This one allows any resistance, but the distance is longer and at a faster pace. I don't remember ever feeling this winded after the run or walk. I won't do the new walk because they took 4 minutes off the walk time from the APFT. It's almost as if they are trying to weed out the broken, yet knowledgeable soldiers.
