Can you be ordered to submit an LIK for a distance that violates the max involuntary commute of 150 miles per AR 135-91, 5-5?

I moved and now live 174 miles from my unit. Instead of allowing me to transfer to a local unit, they assigned me to a satellite unit near by. Now they are having consolidated BAs at original unit for half the year. Which effectively invalidates the transfer and forces a commute over 150 miles. AR 135-91, 5-5. I was issued an order to submit for an LIK even though I am disputing the involuntary commutes. My concern is filing an LIK being used as evidence that the commute is voluntary. I have no problem traveling on orders.

LIK has nothing to do with it being voluntary or not. If you don't submit for LIK then you won't have any place to sleep. Make some comments through your NCO support channel with this information and they should find a solution. Getting a bus that will take you from your regular duty station to the training site would be cheaper than paying mileage to each person to drive to the training site. Document your concerns, who you spoke to, and whether or not you got a resolution to the discrepancy. You shouldn't have to travel this far. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, submit an IG complaint or call your congressman. Higher HQs are famous for trying to "cheap out" on Soldiers. You shouldn't have to file complaints though, your CSM should take care of you if your 1SG isn't. I doubt you are the only person who has a problem with this.
