If we were to fight in an environment that you had to clothe yourself for cold-weather tactical operations, shoot in the cold, and conduct a small-unit movement in cold and snow could you do it?

Cold weather can be used as a tactical advantage how prepared are you.

My first 6 months after coming out of the AF Reserve was at McGUIRE AFB in NJ Sir.. we had an ORI 3 months in and I got sent to Supply to draw Cold weather B4 bag.. a 150 Of us went to Labrador and another group went to Aridzona.. thankfully before that in Reserves We had just had an ORI.. went to Alaska way up north.. So going to gooose bay was a cake walk. Just gotta be prepared to go wherever they want you ! Have a awesome day and don’t forget your gear!

I do believe that our military could fight in the cold and they do,  Afghanistan isn't only desert and mountains, there are areas of the region that during the winter do get below freezing and have severe snow, and we complete missions in it all the time.  I don't think it would be hard for us as military to acclimate ourselves to someplace even colder if it came down to fighting in an area like northern Russia just for an example.  With the advances of light weight extreme weather clothing it would be very easy.

I fought in Afghanistan in 2002 and I can attest to the cold:) I would agree with our huge logistics tail their is no doubt you would be comfortable in any environment your unit is sent to. But ask yourself, without that logistic tail how many of your Soldiers could perform in an extreme cold weather environment. Are they prepared on an individual level?

Well Sir it all comes down to leadership, I at the moment don't have soldiers under me as I am in the QC shop but as a squad leader in the past I would take the time to ensure that my soldiers were properly trained in proper use of the equipment, that is our job as leaders and I think with that proper leadership they would be prepared.

I think it is time that someone makes a show like survivor but in cold weather. Cold weather does suck, it will make some people quit:)

Agreed. My father used to tell me that the cold makes men smart, stratigic, and strong.

"Mangoes don't grow on tree's in icy winter... ...you can't just wing-it. Folks that are lazy in summer don't last the winter."
