We are standing up a museum for my ABCT. We were a Inf DIV in WWII and had a lot of different unit in the division. It appears to be some sort of apron but I have never seen something like this in use? Can anyone aid in this.

You would wear these when going on liberty. When you got to drunk to make your way back to the base, the taxi driver would drive you to the location for the unit on the apron. It was quickly abandoned as it was not in fashion.

(that was satire for those who did not get it)

Hmm, I will do some research and try to help you out CPT (Join to see), now that I see what you are actually talking about.

After seeing it, makes me want to figure it out. Maybe some of the more Senior veterans/retirees here will know exactly what they were used for?!?!

1SG (Join to see) , obviously this was an early prototype, just one step in the evolutionary chain that lead to the current model of perfection which we all now love and adore!

MSG Wade Huffman would that be like a predecessor to the predecessor of the PT belt...aka "roadguard vest"?

SGT Richard Hanner , absolutely, the 'roadguard vest' was just one more step in the evolutionary ladder leading to our beloved PT belt. Perhaps we should start a museum to highlight the entire evolutionary process!! :-)
