Can you take your military drivers license to the DMV and use it to get a class C drivers license?

You would have to check with the appropriate state you live in. THIRTY SIX states have adopted this program, but depending on the state, you have to do it PRIOR to discharge. Also, Some states may require you to take the tests only the pay the fees. Some states will charge you fees and waive the tests. It also depends on what you're licenses for. I know its rare, but if all you have on your license was tank, combat, FT....maybe not :-)

Though there was a place in Fort Hood to get both licenses.

Circa 1990 I had a PV2 in my section from Philly, PA. He had never needed nor had a civilian DL. So after testing thru the military DL course and eventually getting his military DL. He still had to go to the DMV in Texas and do a written and behind the wheel test. He had to borrow a friends POV to take the drivers test in. However if he had not taken the military drivers license they would not even give him the written exam until after he enrolled, attended and passed the Texas Civilian Drivers training course. Then taken and passed the written exam, then passed the behind the wheel exam. So in Texas having a military drivers license does speed up the civilian licensing process, but it does not replace it in total, just in part. Also this happened almost 30 years ago so the laws could have changed since then. Best thing to do is go to the DMV in person stand in line and get a good answer with documentation.
