Comic Collecting: What comics do you collect? How many do you have, and do you buy single copies or by subscription?

I've been collecting comics since the mid 1980's and now have almost 3000 comics bagged boarded and boxed in my "Man-Cave". I collect mostly Marvel comics, but I am very much attracted to any comic with great cover art. I have several subscriptions but I always buy about 10 to 15 additional titles a month, always two copies of each.

I collected comics for years. Sadly, my mother would find them and throw them away. To think, I could have paid for college AND grad school with the money those would have earned...

I have somewhere between 8-9000. Mostly Marvel and DC. I have a large focus on Silver age books, but have a bunch of Golden age books too. I started back in the 70s, but really got into it in the 80s and 90s. Now I am back into it again.
I also have a gun rack that was built into my house and decided to turn it into a comic display case. Currently I made it into exclusively Marvel. Mostlely keys, but I could redo the whole thing with DC or even another completely different Marvel books.
The exception to this being all Marvels are the posters on the sides of the case, which are signed by Neal Adams.

SFC (Join to see), very nice !! Unfortunately I have space constraints that prevent me from displaying the way that you do. :-( I am however the proud owner of eight comics signed by Todd McFarlane (including a Spawn #1), and 5 that were signed by Stan "the Man:, himself !!

I have 14 long boxes of comics, half of which are old DC war books. Love them. Still collect, and went to the Boston Comic Con this weekend.

Do you keep them bagged? Do you think they are still in Near Mint condition? Just curious because 14 long boxes usually means the comics were bought over a longer period of time. Do you plan to keep them, give them further to a family member or friend, or do you want to sell them some day? The old DC war comics were definitely the best of the combat comics !!

Oh, hell yeah. All are bagged. Some are boarded, depending on value. Some are rough, others are in good shape. As long as it's complete (no cut out coupons, missing / loose pages, etc) The war books I plan to keep and let my son deal with when I pass. I go through the rest of the collection every couple of years and weed out issues I don't care about anymore. I usually send them overseas through a Books For Soldiers program. I've been collecting since about 1989. One long box is nothing but Punisher titles.
