When I first deployed to combat with the National Guard, we were supposed to wear the Combat patch of the Active Duty unit we fell under/worked with for more than 30 days. Some in my unit got special exceptions, and our DD214’s authorized our state patch. On later deployments we fell under/worked for different Active units, but were authorized our state patches. Would all of those patches be authorized for wear? We tended to spend 3-6 months with different Active units.

On all of your deployments, if your unit deployed at least platoon level, you are authorized your unit patch.
Any other patch from an OPCON unit would have to be approved by HQDA G1, and that memo would need to be in your iPERMS..

So technically the Combat Patches from Active Duty units, that the Military said were authorized circa 2003-05 as National Guard units, now would be invalid /unauthorized without HQDA memos authorization for wear? But our state patches would be the only authorized, via being our assigned unit?

SSG Lubec Beshansky - Not Just now, I was referencing the AR 670-1 that was in effect at the time for the deployment pictured in your OP.
But that hasn't changed since 2001, if you deploy at platoon level or higher, you wear that patch. If you get HQDA approval for an OPCON patch, you can also wear that.

I know in 2007 there were changes with ALARACT 55-2007.

Have the orders for the deployment put into your file. I was under the 1st MARDIV my first go around and the orders showed our BDE and all our UICs in it. We also got a memo from the USMC Commandant and letter from HQDA G1. Only the orders made it into my file. HRC rejected the rest.
