Co A, United States Army Field Station Berlin, 1980-82. Still think about it a lot. Tuefelsberg, or Devil’s Mountain, isn’t far from my memory. Memories.

I served in Berlin 1982-84. I never served at Checkpoint Charlie.
I pulled guard duty twice at Spandau.
Great duty station.

My first tour in Germany with B co 2/36 infantry Ayers Kaserne, 1983-1986. We had it rough.
Second time around was B co 4/12 infantry Baumholder, 1989-1992. I was training at Graf when the wall came down.

ON POINT magazine of U.S. Army history, had an interesting article about Berlin's "Detachment A" in the last issue. Most of us serving in West Berlin didn't even know of "Detachment A's" existence -- but they did good work!

Yes I serveed in Co. A 4/6 Berlin Brigade from 1980 to 1982. I lost everything in a fire in 1990. I still remember pulling guard at spandau prison. I was on the Honor Guard, and every time the Americans traded duty with the Russians, we did the ceremony.
