1981 before Navy zero tolerance policy, I went home on leave and after drinking a LOT with friends, ended up smoking some of those "left handed cigarettes". I walked into Captains Mast (Article 15) a frocked E-4 and walked out an E-2. My Master Chief (SGT MAJ) took me aside and gave me a good talking to. He was and is my hero, two tours in Nam on gun boats. A month later, he told me to submit a request for reinstatement to E-3, a few days later I was an E-3 again. Another month or so he tells me to request reinstatement to E-4, a few days later I was a Third Class Petty Officer again. The day we pulled in from that deployment, I was announced as the Sailor of the Quarter. Made Chief Petty Officer (E-7) in 9 years then got my commission and retired as a Commander with 35 years, one month and 21 days active duty. Thanks Master Chief Ken Dean.

Put my LTJg division officer up against a wall with my hands around his neck for kicking the leg of one of guys to get his attention while my guy was wrist deep in high voltage equipment troubleshooting a problem. Test probe dropped oout of my techs hand when he pulled back and shorted out in the gear doing $5000 damage. Told the CO that because he nearly killed my guy so I showed him what it was like to nearly die. Got 6 mos suspended bust.

I was in the 82nd Airborne when I was a young cpl in 1986 and was at my girlfriends house making out as her parents were supposed to be out of town, when lo and behold they came home early and i took off out the back door half dressed and was caught by the MPs a little while later hoof ing it back to my barracks half dressed in senior officer housing and my first sergeant shows up at MP station to get me and I broke down and told him why I was half dressed running through senior officer housing as my girlfriends father was the discom commanders daughter, I should have got an article 15 but the first sergeant took pity on me and I got a beautiful daughter out of it. after her sister told on us the discom commander never liked me even after I married his daughter but oh well that's another story.

He wasn't going to like you no matter what you did. He was praying every night that his daughter didn't meet up with a Joe.

Disobedience of a presidential order was the reason on the paperwork but I just got caught smoking in the barracks. Wish I could find it soni could post it. The terminology was hilariously over exaggerated.

Article 15 for jumping with a fish. What a stupid waste of time and effort on the part of the command.

I received Captain's Mast my first year in, well more than a few, but most were pretty mundane. Disobeying a direct order article 92....20/20 half months pay. Of all thing had a anti smoking CO, no smoking in uniform....forgot they saw the PT GEAR as uniform. That was A School.
Get to the fleet assigned to a battalion and did okay, but really had hard time adjusting. Met an awesome red head on liberty...about 6 months after meeting her decided to take several whether leave...you know whether they liked it or not. Well was gone for 12 days and then came back. This resulted in what Marines call company level office hours. Got 14/14 and fined one weeks pay. Not bad considering been married to her for 16 years now.
Last time got in trouble. Went drinking in Tokyo and got into a little trouble.by coming back about a days a half late (was told I had a great time, but don't remember one minute of it). They put me on barracks restriction pending office hours. Well when my buzz starting wearing off, decided that I wanted to drink more. Went directly to the base club commenced to getting knuckle dragging snot flinging drunk. On the way to the atmosphere to get more money ran into an officer from my unit. An "altercation" ensued with said officer where I may have informed him that in my humble opinion "He couldn't lead a troop of girl scouts from one telephone pole to the next with out getting them all killed..." followed by a few other choice words. That was the straw that broke the camels back. Received a summary court martial 30 days in the brig, reduction in rank to E1, two thirds months pay times 2, 60/60 suspended, and recommended for a big chicken dinner. Well luckily for me I had a one hell of a regimental master chief and few good senior NCOs who saw I had good potential to be a good sailor. They went to bat for me. Upon returning states side they got me a transfer to a new battalion and the difference was night and day. These guys I owe a lot to and they helped my dig my way out of a insumountable hole I had dug for myself. I ended up getting out after 6 years with a good conduct medal, an HM3, my FMF Device, a CAR, and a few other decent awards. I guess it took some trouble to break me, but break me they did. I got into minor trouble after that, but I learned to play the game...once you learn the rules and play them the Navy was a great time. Went on to serve another 4 years in the SC Army National Guard and the military paid for college. Never regret anything I did, but I sure as hell did learn a lot and grew up real quick.

LMAO I was stationed in Germany and was a mechanic in the motor pool. My girlfriend (at the time) waited for me at the bowling alley which was right beside the motorpool. We left formation early and I wandered into the bowling alley to meet her, when I walked in and found her breaking a $20 bill so that she could play the slot machines. Now I told her, I don't mind dropping pocket change in them, but a $20 fed us for a week back then! Naturally, I jumped her about that (it was strictly verbal) and some cat deciding that he needed to protect this ladies honor, stepped up and pushed me away from her, at which he received a dislocated jaw for his actions. I walked out with my girl and went home. The very next morning, I got called to the CO's office by the 1st Sgt. I reported as told. When I stepped into his office, there was the cat with the sore jaw, in a 2nd Lt uniform! Seems officers stick together when they get bruises...

I believe all liberals should get at least one! But I never received one, I wouldn't know...

Everyone is entitled to his opinion, though I would point out that being a Liberal is political speech. Oaths are not sworn to only defend the right to hold popular opinions.
