I had worked through two straight shifts and went back to my barracks, which happened to be the furthest barracks from the alert sirens. An alert was called at 6am for an exercise I was unaware of, and slept through the alert siren. Got called in and yelled at. I said regs say I couldn't be called in for an alert after working two shifts straight. So then they said my hair was too long. I laughed at them. Pulled out a receipt from the BX barber shop from the morning the day before showing I got it cut that day. They didn't appreciate my lack of contrition, so they insisted I must be on drugs to laugh at them. Sent me for a drug test, came back negative. They called me before them again, they were mad now, since they couldn't nail me for that either. Article 15 for insubordination.

got mine during USMC boot in Calif...(yes Hollywood Marine)....the instructors thought I was gay because I never got mad.(they didn't know my back story)...was called into the senior DI's office 2 weeks before graduation. He tells me their problem and asked me what I thought...I explained my situation. Drill Instructor Staff Sargent Steele starts yelling that a Marine fights better mad. I say if a Marine losses his temper he is dead because he lost his edge. DI Steele lost it and started cursing me till the Senior put a stop to it. He asked DI Steele what he wanted from me and he said for me to get pissed off. Senior ask me for a response , I asked to speak freely, he granted it.(this is where I screwed up) I turned to DI Steele and informed him he wasn't ugly enough to piss me off. He blew a gasket and wanted to charge me with insubordination but since I was granted free speach he couldn't. I was asked to stand outside of the office , about 20 mins. later DI's stomped out glared at me and kept walking. Senior called me in and said that they where gonna ride my ass the rest of training and then drop me to transit to await discharge for failing to qualify in the swimming tests (Which I never took) so I could watch the platoon graduate, and they did . After being out 10 yrs I went into the Indiana National Guard and served 2 more yrs. a little wiser when dealing with DI's

shortly before i was medically retired i almost got one i was an e-5 in a doim unit div of information command unit we had 25 military and 250 civilians we had a full bird then a csm two e-6 3 e-5s and the rest e4 down well when i got to the unit our csm was the only one that had more awards then i had and only by one so for the most part he liked me even though i was white lol but the final day i was clearing to go to saudi he still hadnt wrote up my ncoer and i needed to be done by 1300 so at 1200 i finally went to the col. well i have never seen a csm put at parade rest in front a bunch of privates but i did that day and i knew i was in for it when i got to the csm office he lit me up and i was supposed to be assigned to a cush assignment at a international school at a resort type place my csm changed that and i was assigned to central command ya still not bad but in the end i had a great record while i was there so he had to give me a good ncoer and send me on my way lol

you know i entered the army in 85 and was medically retired in 02 now i retired at 17 years and only being an e-5 but that is because my poiunts were at 998 for more then half the time i was in and the 5 ar 15s could have been part of the reasonbut you know during my time in you get a ar15 get extra duty straighten your crap out and you would get your rank back in less then 6 months now if you get one and lucky enough to stay in you have to wait for 2 full years where in that equation is there any reason for a private to get his shit straight its stupid

I know what you mean, in our unit we sadly had a saying "The easiest way to make E-5 is to be an E-6 when you arrive" and it seemed to be true. They were ALWAYS out to bust someone down for stupid stuff. Like they didn't have anything better to do.

I almost got one for standing my ground with a SFC who was not in our unit trying to take over my PT formation. He did not think what I had planned for PT was strenuous enough. So I told him from the position of parade rest where he could go and how he could get there. He tried to hem me up but it did not fly because I was never a problem child. I did receive a negative 4856 for loss of military bearing, fowl language, and disrespect.

I got one for not shaving correctly. My Sergeant claimed I had not shaved that morning and ordered me to go shave again, which I did. Afterwords, he still swore that I did not shave, which my roommate told him I did as well. I then dry shaved which left my skin red and irritated. The next week I got an Article 15 for not shaving correctly.

I didn't Get an Article 15, but definitely should have. I was on a 4-man range cleanup detail (scraping grass off Ivan mounds). In the middle of doing that I was tasked to drop another soldier off at range HQ in a GOV. After completing this task I decided Make a pit stop and do a couple of sweet donuts on an empty range (PFC status). As I complete my 3rd donut the head civilian over the entire range complex decided to pass by the range I was on. Immediately stopping me and calling my NCO and his colleagues over to my location to see my artwork. He tells them to snap some pictures and call the MP's while he sends all of this up to the Division CSM. I'm pleading and apologizing to this guy hoping he would have a change of heart. Miraculously he did and we kept it company level. All I had to do was scrape up the perfect crop circles on the range ALONE, and an ass chewing from my 1SG. No other actions were taken!!

Wow, where do I begin? I got one as an E4 for something stupid but not exciting. We've done much more stupid and exciting things that didn't get an Article 15, such as at Ft Carson after an extended Feild problem with a LT who thought he knew everything, we were back at tent city over looking the post. Someone saw him ego into one of the many port a johns that lined the back of the tents one evening. One of us got the brilliant idea to back the 1/4 ton jeep up to the door and lock him in. We backed a little too far and sent said port a John over the bank, with said LT in it! We scattered! He came walking through tent city covered in, well, he was a mess and mad on top of it. He knew who he thought did it but couldn't prove anything. A couple days later we were drinking beer and playing card in the platoon tent. One of the PFCs kept bitching about the noise over and over. We waited until he went to sleep, one of the guys slipped a boot lace thru the zipper and around the kids neck. We took duct tape and taped him to the cot and around his head, picked him up and put him in the back of the 2 1/2 ton truck, drove him down to the air field and set him off the side of the road. We went back to playing cards. About 2 or 3 hours later here comes the kid , mad as hell, telling us all how he was going to press charges on all of us. We had a come to Jesus meeting with the CO the next morning and he told us to calm down a little but that was it. That PFC went on to become a COL/06. Who woulda thought!
