I am currently building a deployment SOP for the S1 section for my eMIB for a future exercise. I am a 35D and only have a few months of experience in the S1 OIC role (formerly a PL and XO). I have the MTOE and UMR for reference, and understand the basics, but am looking for the more specific S1 functions and how the section will fall into the rest of BN. I have never deployed.

1LT David Welsh we wrote a readiness SOP in 4th Sustainment Brigade but it was based off DSCA and Fort Carson policy. That was in 2016....I'm sure someone already built the better mouse trap and the official binder is sticking out of the pile in a closet like the Statue of Liberty at the end of Planet of the Apes.

Here is a Combined Arms Center product on the topic. Good place to start is CARL, The CASCOM one stop, CAC. https://usacac.army.mil/sites/default/files/publications/15-01_CDD_V2.pdf

I have never been an S1 so I will wing it.
-Develop a deploying roster by UIC. Unit Identification Code. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The Unit Identification Code (UIC) is a six character alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies each United States Department of Defense entity.

-Track various units and personnel as they leave the port of embarkation. Ensure Finance gets a copy of those who just left, as it changes pay.

-Ensure Commanders and 1SGs identifty pay problems. I am saying this because one company sent a soldier on a deployment in an AWOL status. His family was no pay due.

-Make sure spouses have the number for the Rear D.

-Ensure the companies have good spouse contact info.

-BPT track other deployment readiness.
-Get good numbers for pertinent POCs.

Good luck. I am sure you can google an SOP.

Its been over 2 years since was on it and monitored it but the Army G-1 has a website that puts out all the current messages - as well as has blog action that lists out items such as SOPs that others have done. You should have access to it. Spend some time going through it and seeing if you can find some examples of what you want - or ask the question and see if some can provide you with their unit examples. Worth a try LT Welsh - especially in seeing what others have done already.
