With people like you with smart a answers why would any want to join. Why you couldn’t have just said read the regulation and give him the reg number tells me what kind of jerk you are.

Unless things have changed.. Simply, you will get a KDSM if you're in Korea for a month or longer. You will get an OSR for being overseas for a total of 9 months in a row or longer. If you're stationed there for a year like most people you will get both.

Go to s1 during your outprocessing and have them add it to your ERB. Should only take a couple minutes as long as you don't have to fist fight anyone in S1 to get them to do their job!

No. The general rule is you can't get a OSR for the same tour you received another service medal for. There are a number of exceptions but apparently not for the KDSM.

I would have to respectfully disagree with that general rule MSG. As per AR 600-8-22 para 2-20 "d. General. (1) The OSR is authorized to be awarded with the KDSM." Unless I am misinterpreting the regulation then I would say that yes, the soldier is eligible for the OSR as well as the KDSM.

Yes, Korea is authorized the KDSM and OSR. Just like Iraq and Afghanistan grant you an OSR AND a Service Medal. That's not a general rule at all.

If you meet the criteria for both then you do. It is on the regulation and often pieces are on ALARACT / MILPER messages from HRC addressing changes to the regulation.

Depends. When you served there. My first tour was only the overseas service ribbon then they came out with the kdsm And allowed joint ribbons for prior osr awards. And every tour after was a osr

Yes, as long as you have 30 consecutive days or 60 non-consecutive days in country for the KDSM.

I wish you Luck Lad. I've had a few of my Ribbons/Medals change their Requirements and Eligibility Dates in Rapid Sequence. The Military changes it's Minds more often that it changes it's Skives.
