True geniuses see the world differently than us mortal people. I won't believe we don't have the deep thinkers and geniuses in the military, that is statistically impossible. It appears we have bureaucracies as opposed to fighting machines in Iraq and Afghanistan. The geniuses have been constrained. We are now a low risk low reward military machine, and I am trying to figure who driving this driving this vision into fruition.

I don't think that there's a shortage of brilliant minds, but I definitely detect a shortage of adept political top cover from senior leaders.

So our political minds are stunting our military minds?

In my humble company-grade opinion, no doubt in my mind, MAJ Ken Landgren. I don't know how anyone on a position to know would draw a different conclusion.

1SG (Join to see) - I don't doubt the pollution of our military strategy. Just look at the civilians in government who find it normal to expound to the public secret military missions. They don't realize diplomacy has failed.

I found the recently publicized infighting between former Secretary of Defense Hagel and Susan Rice pretty illuminating. I was thinking more along the line of general officer to field grade interface, though.

Why the current administration of course.
They hold back our Military and keep them from doing what they know how to do best....he ignores their advice and keeps to a plan of his own....and I'm sure he issues silent threats to keep every one quiet and I'm sure they do not dare speak up or try and argue their point....cause no matter what, it's all mute with this administration

I am leaning in that direction as well. We should fight to win.

The question is, are they at the right ranks to make a difference? For all we know the greatest military strategist the world has ever seen is down at the motor pool right now swapping out drip pans....

This is not what you are saying, but a lot of buddies of MOH recipients said they never expected such heroism.
