Do we need both the ARMY and the MARINES, With all the new technology we have now Drones Satellites, etc. War has became a and push button event for the most part. Also wars and battles are smaller than in the past. Of course we always need ground troops. We are using Spl. Ops. More often then we have in later wars The U.S. has changed it attitude and has became more aggressive in dealing with rouge leaders like Osama bin Laden. ( Do not take alive)
Both the Army and Marines could become merged into 1 force and be streamlined to become a well trained and specialized ground force.
This is just my thought I wonder if anyone else sees this as a possibility in the future.

Think objectively. Traditions, camaraderie aside. Both are somewhat similarly more combat-oriented than USN or USAF. Answer practically without putting down either one of them.

PS: Yes, some are taunting about USN and USAF consolidation or Air Force return to Army Air Corps. My take on that if it's practical, lessen bureaucracy, and make for a smoother communications pipeline amongst the DoD components, why not? Again, camaraderie and traditions aside for a min.
