Doesn't matter if it's Dave Ramsey's advice or another financial guy, teaching finances to your family and Soldiers can save a marriage or more. To me, it's leadership 201 because it does involve a level of trust and respect. Do you have a plan? What is it?

My wife and I are completely debt free and have 6 months worth of expenses saved up at all times...plus an additional savings account that I continue to grow each month. The amount of financial peace and peace of MIND that a person can experience is unbelievable when you are debt-free with a strong emergency savings. The sacrifices we made early on by living well beneath our means has paid dividends, I highly recommend it. It's worth the effort!

I started listening to Dave Ramsey long ago.

I am a huge advocate of Dave Ramsey! His "baby steps" really do work.

As a young enlisted guy I received some advice from our HMC, but it was spotty. An emergency fund is critical and participating in your retirement as a young person should not be an option. Social Security will probably not be available for the young crowd.

Social Security was a great program when first implemented, but soon will run out. Reason I'm glad I started saving up early.

I keep enough money put away to be able to pay all my monthly bills for 3 months. Even though there is a high demand in the field I work in, that would give me 90 days to find another job and still be picky where I wanted to work.
