WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Oct. 29, 2015) -- First Army is three years ahead of Department of the Army's schedule for transforming to a focus on pre-mobilization training for the reserve components.
"Operation Bold Shift" is about two-thirds complete now, said First Army Commander Lt. Gen. Michael S. Tucker. The reorganization will be finished by next summer, well ahead of the 2019 requirement.
Sixteen training brigades have already collapsed to nine, he said. And those brigades are primarily being filled with combat support and combat service support Soldiers.

They are now three years into it.. As a Company Commander, My unit was conducting RC training under the name Bold Shift in 1992 after DS/DS. Some staff officer probably received an award for devising a "new" program. Just goes to show you how many programs are recycled as "something new".

I'll bet a steak dinner that when they used it in the 1990s, that it wasn't original then. After posting I read LTC Stoneking's the explanation. He was spot on.
I can say we had a very good relationship with our "sister" units. They were small detachments that we either folded into our training or we sent their counterparts. We never viewed it as "OCing" the RC more like an exchange of ideas. My Soldiers would return and comment how much they learned from the RC Soldiers because they had been doing the same job four to five times longer. I do know the RC leadership wasn't as receptive.

Better late than never. My first thought. Kind of funny to be worrying about that now that the mobilization efforts are almost completely over.

SSgt (Join to see), Well the Army needs something to toot their horn about. At least they will be prepared, unless it's forgotten about if we go boots on the ground. Lol
