The ones that need to be replaced in the top 10 list
#5, 6, 7. Why because #5 It's a dump story a way to add positive info to get Clinton's name in the news without connecting it to missing email and Benghazi. #6 Really seriously, there are so many bb guns and real weapons in the hands of children that I'm speechless. #7 I think this is just filler news and or news that belongs on Entertainment News. We could replace them with news like #5 Turkey's push for safe zone in Syria, #6 China's market crashes #7 Yemen fighting continues despite cease-fire, and one extra for the environmentally conscious Endangered Species Act threatened by bills and legislation.

Well It is always interesting when the news brokers, in this case AP, post what they think we should be interested in and know COL Mikel J. Burroughs
I have entered my editorial comments in {brackets} many are intended to be humorous but "truthful" :-)

1. OBAMA HOLDS TALKS ON SECURITY, HUMAN RIGHTS IN ETHIOPIA - He's the first sitting American president to visit the East African nation.
{How many non-sitting Presidents visited Ethiopia - which has been fighting civil wars openly and less openly for a long time, persecutes the Christian minority, etc.}
2. UNITED STATES AND TURKEY AIM TO PUSH ISLAMIC STATE GROUP FROM NORTHERN SYRIA - A U.S. official, however, says the move will not include the imposition of a no-fly zone.
{No mention of our concurrence with Turkey fighting the Kurds}
3. REMEMBERING YOUNG WOMEN SHOT AT MOVIES - The local business owner and radiology student slain by a gunman inside a Louisiana movie theater are laid to rest.
{Each day of the 100's murdered in this nation one or two people are singled out as "human interest " stories - This is one area I would like to see how these people are selected while others are ignored}
4. AP TRACKS MISSING SLAVE FISHING BOATS TO PAPUA NEW GUINEA - These trawlers fled a slave island in Indonesia 1,000 miles away with captives of a brutal trafficking ring whose catch reaches the U.S.
{another human interest story that is an update on a years old issue - interesting but begs the question of why it has been singled out.}
5. HOW CLINTON HOPES TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE - The presidential candidate's strategies include revisions in the tax code to promote renewable energy.
{Throwing more money at the problem just what this nation needs NOT; better to scrap the tax code by streamlining it and minimizing tax credits}
6. WHY AFGHANISTAN BANS TOY GUNS - At least 184 people, nearly all children, suffer eye injuries over the recent Eid al-Fitr holiday from toy weapons that fire BB pellets and rubber shot, health officials say.
{no mention of water pistols, Nerf guns, etc. The toy guns they mention are actual weapons. This fits well with the anti-gun views of AP's editors}
7. AUTOPSY PLANNED FOR BOBBI KRISTINA BROWN - The Medical Examiner's Office says the time that elapsed from when she was found unresponsive in January until her death Sunday will "complicate" its effort to reconstruct events.
{Why is this important news? - Human interest , death of famous entertainers relatives - Remember the extensive coverage on Michael Jackson and later his doctor}
8. COLOMBIA UNEARTHS LANDFILL LOOKING FOR SCORES OF DISAPPEARED - Experts will begin removing 31,000 cubic yards of rubble from La Escombrera, where the remains of as many as 300 people are believed to have been dumped and which could be the country's biggest mass grave.
{Columbia, Chile, Peru and that is only the western side of South America that has gone through government led purges, killings by terrorists and drug lords over the past 75 years or so}
9. WHAT IS BEING CALLED THE LARGEST-EVER ACQUISITION BY AN ISRAELI COMPANY - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. is purchasing Dublin-based Allergan PLC's generic pharmaceuticals business for $40.5 billion.
{Token business news needs to be included}
10. NON-COOL EAST PORTLAND SEEKS GREATER REPRESENTATION - A part of the city known for fashionable hipsters and devotion to public transit counters the narrative of livable, weird, predominantly white `Portlandia.'
{and last and least - local business news deemed to be important to the masses of readers}

And, there you have it. It's the same thing I heard about last night on the National news, but for today, the "best" of the worst news that will be on the air. I'm not a very newsy person. It's mostly the same old song, but a different verse. I don't stick my head in the sand, thinking it will all be gone if I don't pay attention to it, but, I can tolerate only a little at a time. MSNBC, CNN, FOX, whatever, seem to concentrate on which one news item will make most viewers watch all day while they bite their fingernails to the quick. Besides, if I miss something on the news I'll read about it here. (-;
