Upload this link. It's an app called PTSD coach. I use it regularly. It will help you understand why you are feeling the way you do, and what steps you can take to help. It's from the VA system. At least, give it a shot. It may be what you're looking for. http://www.ptsd.va.gov

I went to the VA 2 weeks ago for help. After talking to the psychologist, I was given antidepressants.

Great app. My clients all gate it for themselves as well as family.

Nope. The VA 0% me because I have a combat badge and one or more PHs. At least that's what they told me.

If you ask me, PTSD is the worst thing ever bestowed upon me or anyone else! If you're ever diagnosed with it, PLEASE GET HELP! Being strong and having dealt with this affliction for a number of years and receiving all types of treatments, I'm great at lending a brotherly ear...we need that! My prayer is for all of us that has to deal with this disease, the most quality of help. God knows we need it!

Hmmm ... the question I think is not do you have it. I think most who have served do, whether military, or any sort of first responder. We all have suffered trauma of one sort or another. Some combat, and some non-combat. The bulk of mine would be in the latter category. Every victim who dies in your arms, everyone you could not save takes a toll, especially the children. I have been out of Fire and EMS for over 15 years now, and I still see the children. So yea, it's there. The larger question is can and how you live with it. As some observed earlier prayer and faith are big helps.

So, what do you think the question is? A lot of folks don't recognize they have it. A lot of folks won't get help even if they know they have it. So, I think my question is appropriate.

Umm ... I never said it was not appropriate. I simply observed that for most vets and first responders the answer is yes. The questions then become are you coping? How well? Can you live with it? And perhaps most importantly, even if you are coping, is it having a negative effect on your health or other areas of your life? Do you need help? I suspect almost every vet wrestles with the PTSD question to some degree or another. In a way maybe it is good, back in the day we just wrestled with a nameless demon. I don't have the answers.

To be honest, when I was younger I think I coped better than I do now. Why that is I'm not sure, but those memories come more often than they used to. Is that a good thing or bad? I'm not sure.
